How to design your space

RoomSketcher is for people buying or renting homes, buying furniture, doing home improvement or generally interested in interior design.

RoomSketcher makes it easy to create your home designs and floor plans online. No software to install and perfect for both mac and PC users – you’ll be planning your space in minutes. You can design a room or create an entire house plan. RoomSketcher is equally suited for end-users and professional users. This is a short getting started guide for new users.

RoomSketcher – main user interface

Create New Project

1. In the Toolbar click the New button
2. In the New window choose New Project
3. Click Start from Scratch to get a blank project

Draw walls

1. In the Mode Bar click the 1. Walls button
2. In the Mode Pane choose the type of wall you want to create
3. In the workspace click from point to point to create walls

Insert windows and doors

1. In the Mode Bar click the 2. Windows etc. button
2. In the edit field enter a search strings
3. Press the Search button
4. Select a door or window from the list and drag it onto the desired wall

Put materials on floor and walls

1. In the Mode Bar click the 3. Materials button
2. In the edit field enter a search strings
3. Press the Search button
4. Select a material and drag it onto the desired zone

Insert furniture

1. In the Mode Bar click the 4. Furniture button
2. In the edit field enter a search strings
3. Press the Search button
4. Select a product and drag it onto the desired zone

Take snapshots

1. In the workspace click on the camera and drag it in position
2. In the Toolbar click the Properties button
3. In the Properties window adjust the camera settings
4. In the Properties window click the camera to take a snapshot

The snapshot will appear in the Preview Window to the top right. You can view a larger image by clicking on the snapshot or by clicking on the Media Gallery button in the Preview Window.

Create free user account

1. In the Toolbar click the Log in menu
2. In the Log in menu choose New User…
3. Follow the instructions to create a free user account

You can use RoomSketcher free of charge, but you need to be a registered user to save your Project.

Save Project

1. In the Toolbar click the Save button
2. In the Save As… window enter the name of your project
3. Press the Save button

Hint: You can use RoomSketcher free of charge, but you need to be a registered user to save your Project.

Save snapshots

1. In the Preview Pane click the Media Gallery button
2. In the Media Gallery window click the Gallery Image button

Hint: The saved snapshot will be available under the Image Gallery tab.
Note: You need to save your project before being able to save snapshots associated with the project.

Set project image

1. In the Preview Pane click the Media Gallery button
2. In the Media Gallery window click the Project Image button

Hint: The saved snapshot will be available under the Project Image tab.
Note: You need to save your project before being able to set the project image.

Print Floor Plan

1. In the Preview Pane click the Media Gallery button
2. In the Media Gallery window click the Floor Plans tab
3. Click the Print button

Hint: Get cooler floor plans by clicking on Generate Premium.

Open Media Gallery

1. In the Preview Pane click the Media Gallery button
2. The Media Gallery will be displayed
