Have you seen the Pantone Color of the Year for 2016? It’s colors actually and they are lovely! Here is our take on what they mean and how to use them in your home design.
For the first time ever the Pantone Color Institute has selected two colors as the color of the year for 2016 and they couldn’t be lovelier – Serenity and Rose Quartz. Serenity (PANTONE 15-3919) is the tranquil blue of an endless clear blue sky. Rose Quartz (PANTONE 13-1520) is a warm and energizing velvety pink. In combination, they evoke the type of sunset that makes you stop in your tracks and just be in the moment. Inspired by nature, these two colors are meant to transport us and inspire peace, balance and tranquility. Sounds like great goals for 2016!
Where better to use these colors than in our homes. In the bedroom design above, we split the room in half and used Serenity on two walls and Rose Quartz on the other two. This sets up a nice duality in the room. To create balance we used blue accessories against the rose backdrop and pink accessories against the blue background. To complete the look, we added a single accent color in yellow-gold.
You can use Serenity and Rose Quartz together or separately in your home designs. Try them in a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and even a home office – anywhere you want to create a sense peace, order and relaxation.

Accessorize Rose Quartz and Serenity with home decor in metal finishes such as silver, brass and bronze, or with marble finishes in white, green and black. To pair them with other colors – look for soft browns and greys, winey-purples, bluish-greens, warm peach tones and rich yellow golds. Here is a sample of complementary colors that work well with both colors to help inspire your room designs:
